at St. Christopher’s Church
Welcome to child and youth connections at St. Christopher’s! If you have any questions, please feel welcome to give us a call at (905) 634-1809 or email (hyperlink: email@example.com) Allison Courey, our Director of Children and Youth (hyperlink: Allison’s profile). We would love to have you join us!
Growing in Faith Together is our Sunday Church School for kids ages 4-12 during the 9:30 service. We gather for music, prayer, and an interactive story session before breaking off into smaller groups for active or creative responses to the morning’s story. A less formal program is available for children at the 11:30 service.
Fun in the Sun
Join us for a week in God's creation! This summer, St. Christopher's is partnering with A Rocha, an international non-profit organization which promotes environmental conservation through the lens of the Christian faith. Their summer children's program teaches kids to get up close and personal with nature to learn about our special mandate to care for God's good earth.
As in previous years, campers will be assigned to teams which rotate through worship, story, science, arts, and active living. A healthy (nut-free) snack will be provided each morning. In response to the feedback we've received from parents and parishioners, we're offering just one week of camp this summer, with the option to attend for either a full day or a half day.
Kids who come for a half day of camp will learn and play from 9-12 as in previous years. Those who stay for the full day will bring a (nut-free) bag lunch and stay until 4pm. The afternoons will be an extension of the morning, with opportunities to explore the day’s theme in greater depth. We will go to the park, visit a farm, and explore plant life at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Exact details about field trips will be provided as the summer gets closer.

Shine is our music and theatre program for kids ages 6-12. We meet from 4:30-6:00 PM on Monday evenings during the school year. The group does either a series of skits or a short play at the end of each season, normally at Christmas, Easter, and the end of the school year. A new term began on September 18, but students interested in joining us for January are welcome to drop in at any time.
Tuesday afternoons from 4:00-6:00 PM during the school year, kids ages 4-10 and youth ages 11-15 are invited to drop-in programs in conjunction with Opens Doors. Healthy snacks are provided by our kitchen team while kids engage in active living, creative projects, and team-building activities. Most kids join us for the community meal at 6:00 PM that day.
A new homework support program began in January 2018 during Kids’ Club. Volunteer teachers and students are available for assistance with whatever homework kids bring to work on. For more information, please contact Christina Mulder. (hyperlink: firstname.lastname@example.org)
September to July, Active Tots offers a parenting program focused around school readiness and physical literacy. Drop-in on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30 AM for free play, circle time, stories, and snacks.
Our respite program for children with special needs and their families is hosted on the last Saturday evening of every month in conjunction with Open Doors. Kids receive one-on-one support for the evening while their caregivers take a break from 5:00-9:00 PM.
Calling All Parents
September to June, our Public Health Nurse facilitates a parenting group on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 for parents with kids under 18. Participants are invited to share bring ideas for topics and guest speakers so that the material fits their interests. Limited child-minding spots are available during the meeting. The parenting program, “Nobody’s Perfect” is offered through the group once a year. For more information, please contact Christina Mulder. (hyperlink: email@example.com)
